ENNL

[In plain English]

That's usually about as far as it's right.

That's the question, isn't it. At family parties, at the bar, from friends of friends. So here's the answer, no fancy words (promise).

You know the feeling: a website where you click three times before you find what you're after, or an app where that one button just won't show itself. Gaétan makes sure that doesn't happen. He works out where everything goes and what happens when you tap something. In the trade they call it UX design, but really it comes down to this: it has to feel logical.

Most designers make a design and hand it over to a developer. Somewhere along the way, something always gets lost. Gaétan builds it himself, so what you get actually looks the way it was meant to. And it's a bit quicker, too.

Lots of companies lose hours every week copying numbers from one sheet to another, or rebuilding the same report over and over. That can almost always happen automatically. Gaétan sets it up, so your team can spend its time on the work that really matters.

Campaign images, visuals, short videos. With the right approach that's a lot faster than a classic photo shoot, and it still looks polished and on-brand.

A logo, colours, a typeface, and how it all fits together on your website, your business card and your van. That's what they call a brand identity. Gaétan makes sure you're recognisable everywhere, without it ever getting dull.

Invitations, cards, a flyer or a brochure, the odd company book. He designs them entirely himself, the old-school way, no clever tools. Simply because he loves it. The crazier and more creative the brief, the better.

Click whatever sounds familiar.

Gaétan Bols lives in Antwerp and has been working on digital products for about ten years. He started out as a designer, gradually began building things himself, and these last few years he's mostly been busy with automation. Print has always come along for the ride, he's not letting go of that.

Outside of work he's out on the water as much as he can, on a kite or a sailboat.

Curious for more? His portfolio shows everything he's been working on.

Next family party, you'll know. ✌️
